General Description

The Floret Farm Manager supports the company operations by ensuring all farming activities are planned, managed, and executed with excellence and care.

This position has supervisory responsibilities and reports to the General Manager.

Compensation: salaried $50,000+ / year, based on relevant experience

Expected hire date: July 2019

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage farm workflow and farm crew
  • Focus on quality control and accountability in the field
  • Serve as an expert and hands-on leader in the daily functions of planting, cultivation, irrigation, fertility management, disease and pest management, and harvest
  • Maintain order and upkeep of farm facilities, equipment, greenhouses, and tools to ensure operational readiness, safety, and cleanliness
  • Lead, develop, and train the farm crew with an overall focus on efficiency, accuracy, and care
  • Collaborate with farm planning/project management and marketing personnel (photography, videography) as needed
  • Keep detailed farm records for fields and crew
  • Regularly audit and improve processes to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Have a basic understanding of and experience with small farm machinery and equipment
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed, improved, and develop further as needed
  • Promote and maintain a safe and productive working environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years farm management experience, preferably in an organic system
  • Experience with seed production and processing preferred
  • Experience with flower production preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Self-driven, proactive problem-solver that can bring solutions to increase productivity  
  • Feedback-oriented, eager to learn, and driven to continuously improve performance and productivity
  • Great attention to detail and strong commitment to follow-through of Standard Operating Procedures for farming
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Driven to be accurate and able to communicate information/data in a quick, concise, and fact-oriented manner
  • Farm planning experience and expert working knowledge of farm infrastructure
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Team oriented with proven ability to organize, direct, and motivate others to reach daily, weekly, and monthly goals
  • Capable of working a consistent schedule with the ability to work long hours and occasionally 6-7 day work weeks during the busiest times
  • Must be able to work in a farm environment in Mount Vernon, Washington state, including working outdoors in all seasons and in all weather conditions
  • Healthy and energetic with stamina for long days doing repetitive tasks in a physical job environment
  • Open-minded, inclusive, and respectful of all walks of life
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Must have a current driver’s license and clean driving record
